Summer Outing

Standard

We took a drive to Georgetown for lunch. D wisely decided to drive up and over Guenella Pass instead of sitting in
I-70 traffic. Good call! Here are some pics:

  1. You should! We took I-70 to Georgetown and then picked up Guenalla Pass from there. It’s pretty well marked and easy to get to. The first 12 or so miles out of Georgetown are nicely paved. Then, it’s paved, but older roads – and then there is a stretch that is unpaved – but flat and smooth. You don’t need 4WD and it isn’t scary. Our car didn’t even get muddy!! You end up in Grant, Colorado – not far from Conifer on 285. We ate at this place called “The Happy Cooker” in Georgetown. The food is fine – but their bread is amazingly delicious! I bought a loaf of freshly baked yogurt dill bread to take home with us. I didn’t get a picture – but we actually saw an honest to goodness cattle drive, too! The cowboys were actually all cowgirls!
